Museum of the Northern Territory

Thursday 30th August

On our way out of Darwin we visited the highly-rated (and free) Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, which has some really brilliant displays including a 5.1 metre stuffed crocodile called Sweetheart who was accidentally drowned while being removed from a local billabong after he started attacking dinghies on a frequent basis.

There's also a good wildlife section where you can come face to face with some of the creatures of Australia you wouldn't usually get chance to see in daylight, including these

1. The Thorny Devil, a brilliant name for an animal

2. The Frilled Neck Lizard, which stands by the side of the road frightening people

3. A lovely fluffy Glider, which is like a hamster crossed with a carpet
