The Local Rag

(no - I have no idea why this picture won't rotate - lie on your side for goodness sake)

Jabiru is so small they don't even have a local paper, they have this sort of brownie's newsletter which devotes four pages to the television listings and the same number to the news, even though there are only four channels being received.

As the bathroom is outside, I spent the evening sitting under the ceiling fan and trying not to need the toilet, which meant I read the local rag from cover to cover and learnt all about what's going on in the community, where I'm alarmed to report that the local school has found a snake under a towel in the children's bathroom, though thankfully the snake procedure was followed and nobody got hurt (and in case you're wondering, the snake procedure involves shouting snake and evacuating the children from the building).

On Saturday they're having a magpie goose cooking competition with prizes for the most delicious goose in the pot, so the locals are all busy polishing off their shotguns to catch their bird and the local rag is helping out with recipe suggestions, including magpie goose a l'orange, magpie goose fettucine and even magpie goose pizza, which I'm assuming we won't be seeing on the menu at Pizza Express in Stockton Heath anytime soon.

And finally, I'm happy to report that the Barramundi Playgroup has a new set of cookie cutters. It's always good to end on a light note.

Sleep tight.
