NBF

Kate touched me on the arm as I was about to cross the high street. In a city the size of Sydney, it's unusual to bump into someone you know. It's like when the phone rings and we look at one another and say "who could that be?" with complete conviction.

"Hi Sarah. Listen, thanks for the trip to the park yesterday, we really enjoyed it. It's nice to try somewhere new, I'm useless, I can't read maps so we have to keep going back to the same places".

Kate's been in Sydney for sixteen months. She's lonely. She doesn't have much confidence, I'm her NBF (new best friend).

I thought about the blog and about how shouty and pissed-off I felt yesterday, then I felt bad.

"Let's do it again", I said. "I'll give you a call".
