Bush Kitchen

Monday

This morning we headed out to feed the ducks at the Moore family's local creek. It's a bit different from the one back home because there are water dragons and bush turkeys waiting to be fed as well. There's a lady turns up with two dogs and six loaves of bread every day. I don't think she's got kids because she throws great armfuls of bread into the water, which means the ducks abandon the toddlers feeding them scraps and fly back into the creek instead.

Afterwards we drove up Mount Coot-Tha for a view of the city and on to a picnic spot where we had morning tea (the obligatory fruit salad) and hot drinks from the camp kitchen, courtesy of Mark the bush-tucker man. He has just about every camping implement you can imagine in the back of his Holden Rodeo and can set up a bush kitchen in no time at all.

I like what we've seen of Brisbane, especially the people, who are much more friendly and inclined to start a conversation than the Sydneysiders I've met. Could we live here? I don't think so. I'm more of a Sydney girl so far, I need to be closer to the beach.

And think about how troppo you'd go during the summer.
