This afternoon we went out to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, which was the first koala sanctuary in the country. It's been taken over by the Japanese now, which would explain the photos of famous Japanese people cuddling koalas alongside other visitors like Pope John Paul II and Mikhael Gorberchev.
The middle picture is a wombat asleep in his log.
So, yes, we're in Queensland now, which means we've cuddled koalas. We've also been crapped on by parrots, but that could have happened anywhere.
