Set off for the potential commute to work again this morning, this time with Darren in the driving seat. The drive to the nursery was ok (about 35 minutes), but the drive across the harbour bridge was soul-destroying; three lanes of crawling traffic around Darling Harbour. It amazes me that people do this every day. The entire journey took 1 hour 35 minutes without getting lost. Even Darren shook his head and said “it’s not do-able”, and the harbour tunnel is out of the question because it’s too far away. It’s such a pity because I’d come round to the idea of working and was looking forward to something new. The drive to the job isn’t the problem, it’s the drive to the nursery beforehand. Once again, motherhood scuppers the best laid plans.
