Sky on Fire

In answer to a previous comment, yes, Ella really is turning her sentences up at the end. All the bloody time actually, though I'm probably guilty of it myself. If I'm going to get a bit part in Home and Away, I've got to start somewhere.

This evening when I collected her from nursery she treated me to a rendition of "I can sing my ABC" all the way home. She can indeed sing her ABC, though she's replaced "eff" with "iff" and "ex" with "iks", a worrying trend I'm keen to stamp out because she sounds kind of South African at times and it's not an accent I'm fond of. Serves me right for training her to say "G'day Grig" as a party piece.

The sky was on fire as we drove home; a purple rain front hanging over the city but the skies out west a brilliant blue. The sun had set over the Blue Mountains but the light it was casting on the underside of the purple clouds and the blue of the sky was absolutely stunning. I see funny unfamiliar light like this all the time. It reminds me where I am. I might be in this city but really I'm in this great wild southern land.

Christmas minus nine and it's snowing in the Blue Mountains
