We had dinner at the restaurant in the background once. It was four years ago, during the summer, and it had such a gorgeous view of the sunset over Pittswater that we framed the photograph. It's on our dining room wall at home. It was one of those holiday moments you treasure - I carried the restaurant's business card in my purse for years afterwards, just like I carry the little card for the Mermaid in St Ives.
Anyway, since we were last here the council has built this playground across the road. I'm sure the food and ambience at Barrenjoey House is still wonderful, but the view of the water will never be the same.
It's fitting really because our view of the world has altered forever since we became parents. These days, bugger the view, we're glad of the slippery dip.
