Freight

Three weeks and four days until we leave Sydney, it's hard to answer the question "what's your address?". On Tuesday I bought something in the shop at the Opera House and the lady behind the counter asked "where are you visiting from?", which allows her to tick a box to find out where the tourists come from. I hesitated a minute and for the first time in a year I said "UK".

Today we've been phoning freight handlers to work out how to get ourselves home. Goods transported by air are priced in kilograms, those transported by ship priced in volume. The first step is buying boxes, bubble wrap and parcel tape. The second step is working out which things we can wait three months for.

So far I've worked out the summer clothes can go by ship, as can the books and the beach towels. The only thing left to decide is whether I'm going by plane or ship. Quite fancy a cruise, especially as it's winter up there.
