Conference

Feels like I've had a really long week at work this week because I've spent the last two days at an Asia-Pacific conference. The conference happens once every two years and it rotates through the whole Asia Pacific region, so I was fortunate it was happening in Sydney while I was here.

It was odd being at a conference without spotting people I know, though I did know a couple of speakers from Nottingham and that was even more odd because my brain couldn't quite compute seeing them on this side of the world.

Anyway, nothing much to report other than severe brain-ache and a sort of satisfied academic smugness that comes from having listened to lots of very high-brow research for a couple of days. And as for the food - well the Aussies really can't help themselves because they'll barbeque anything if it stands still long enough so they were busy barbequeing burgers and chicken actually inside the conference hall at lunchtime both days, which was just as well because it's raining in Sydney and they say it's going to rain all weekend.
